Zambia - Day 1 (night 2)

Woke up in the capital city today and went for a beautiful run while watching the African sunrise. Then had a wonderfully cooked breakfast. Loaded up and went to the bus station for the journey to Mongu. Spoke with the head of Kids Alive Zambia and he was already asking for my return next year to do much teaching in the capital. The technology tools we brought this year will far advance their current practices. I look forward to showing them new techniques to help them become more efficient in sharing their kid's stories and information.

Fun story of the day was a rest stop on the bus trip. We used a public restroom where you had to pay about $.40 each. It was actually a small concrete building that surrounded a small hole in the ground. Pic taken of the outside and inside. Inside pic not sent, you may be eating. I learned that passing on those restrooms was a good idea. No idea what people use to finish their #2 business with. Hmmm, shaking hands is overrated.

Arrived in Mongu before dark so we were able to play with the
Kids for a while. Everyone on our trip quickly took to the little ones and all
had a great time playing to getting to know each other.   Thanks dad for the camera. That thing can take a pic with any kind of light.

We began planning our first day of work and will get started bright and early. Through the help of locals we were finally able to get Internet in the compound where the majority of the children live, thus opening up my options greatly for teaching and communication.

Their luggage

I'm assuming there's something cool in this tree that they're looking at - Ryan didn't mention what it was.

I think this is the bathroom Ryan was describing

Their public bus doesn't look too shabby!

I think this is where they're staying the next few days in Mongu
